Preschool - Apple Theme Activities

Apple a day really can keep the doctor away. It is one of the healthiest foods around. When it comes to preschoolers, apples are what you give to your teacher when you like them, they are representing the letter "A" and you can snack on it! It's a trifecta! There are many preschool activities you can do the siege of the almighty apple.

Placemats

There are a couple of different ways to make apple placemats. One is having the kids color a coloring page of the block. The other is to cut an apple in half and dip in colored paint to make prints in the building or the White Paper. Add the leaves or eyes if you like.

Apples

Have the kids decorate a tree with ornaments of colored apple or an apple make Fingerpaint.

Who needs Mr. Potatohead?

Print a template of the block and have the children color them. Go a bit further and glue on one side, funny eyes, rods, feet, arms, an so on. You can get these body parts in an art store or you have to draw them and paste them on preschoolers.

Worms in apples!

Cut a few apple templates for children to color. Then, have them drill some holes in the block so that the worm comes out. Use a pipe cleaner if you like for the worm.

Johnny Appleseed

Have an apple hidden in a bag and let kids reach inside to feel what it is and see if they can guess correctly. Have them describe the block. Review these descriptions after you've revealed the apple to preschoolers. Does anyone knew it was an apple? Tell them the story of Johnny Appleseed and what he did for people.

Field trip!

Depending on where you live, you may be able to take the kids to an apple orchard so they can pick their own apples. If not, buy some different types and let them go on a "trip" at school to pick apples.

Make candied apples

Buy a layer of caramel and apples in the store. Bring in some sticks and popsicle role of wax. Jammed a stick into the apple, let the kids dip them in caramel, place on wax paper for drying.

Show and tell

Have kids bring in their favorite type of apple and party. Then cut them in half to reveal the seeds. Make some faces with the seeds or plant them to watch them grow.

Soak apples Mache

Use the balloons inflated to the shape of the block. Mix flour and water together and newspaper strips of immersion in the mixture. Apply the strips to cover the entire globe. After the balloons are dry have preschoolers paint and decorate the apples.

Apple Conference

Put some paper in the bottom of a box. Dip apples in different color paints and then falling apples in the box. Rock and roll the box every which way you can record and role of the block designs rolling.

These are just some ideas off of hundreds of which you can choose. It's always good to throw in some information about apples when working with preschoolers. While performing any activity on the block with preschoolers, teach on the subject too. Most importantly have fun!
